Questions
Is there really no subscription?
For sending, yes. Faxing doesn’t need to be a subscription. We built Faxwell on modern internet fax technology that keeps our costs low, so we can simply charge 10¢ a page. Receiving is different: it needs a real phone number reserved just for you, and we pay for it every month whether faxes arrive or not. That’s the one thing with a monthly price, and you can cancel it anytime.
What if my fax doesn’t go through?
If the line is busy or nobody answers, we try again automatically, up to 3 times in all. If it still fails, the pages go back to your balance and we tell you why in plain language.
Do my pages expire?
No. Pages you buy stay in your balance until you use them.
Can I fax internationally?
Not yet. Faxwell sends to fax numbers in the US and Canada. More countries are coming.
Is it secure enough for medical forms?
For a one-off private form, choose Send encrypted: it travels over encrypted connections to our network, is stored encrypted, and our copy is deleted after delivery. Our fax carrier doesn’t keep a copy either. The last step to the recipient’s fax machine runs over the phone network, as with every fax, so no fax service can honestly promise end-to-end encryption. For a practice handling patient records, the Secure plan (coming soon) adds a signed Business Associate Agreement, an audit log and a number that’s never reused. Regular plans aren’t meant for patient information.
